Dear Families,
As you may have seen in the news recently, the Government has passed a new law amending the Health and Social Care Act 2008. This amendment states that all those working in adult care homes must be fully vaccinated by 11th November 2021 or they will not be able to continue to work in a care home. Happily, The Forbury satisfies this requirement.
What you may not know is that this amendment also covers anyone entering an adult care home to undertake work or visit – so everyone who is not a visitor of a resident. Anyone not vaccinated by this date will not be able to enter the care home.
I am writing to let you know that we will need to see proof of your vaccination status before 30th October. Once we have seen the proof, we can keep a record of this as you visit regularly. This would mean once we have seen the proof and noted it, we wouldn’t need to ask again. All information stored would be held in line with Data Protection Requirements.
The acceptable forms of proof are
- The NHS App
- The NHS Website – nhs.uk
- The NHS Covid Pass letter
If you have a medical exemption, we do not require you to be fully vaccinated but we will need to see proof of the exemption. We believe that this will be a letter from your GP. However if this applies to you, please let us know so that we can confirm this as it is still to be announced.
If you could arrange to see me with your proof so I can make a note in our records by the end of October, this ensures we have the information in good time. Please send a copy via email gen.forbury@gmail.com if it is more convenient to you.
We appreciate that you have a right to choose whether to have the vaccine or not and we support this right. However, if you are unable to meet the requirements of the new legislation, then very reluctantly indeed we may be prevented by Law, to continue working with you. We do hope that this will not be the case and we can resolve any issues.
