Jean, Julian, Lydia and Edna made some delicious chocolate cakes which were very successful and enjoyed by the residents, see photos below…

Today Muriel inspired us with a French custom of honouring the visit of the three kings to see the baby Jesus.  Muriel, Maylin, Pat, Hilda, Lydia, Freda and Della made Galette des Rois.  This was a three layered flaky pastry with an almond filling.  It was really delicious and the residents enjoyed it at tea time.  After the cooking we enjoyed a singing and poetry session with hats to remind us of the three kings.

The group made the dough, stretching it over round tins.  They then spread the pizza bases with tomato puree and chose toppings from orange pepper pieces, chopped mushrooms, cheese, land cress leaves, winter savoury herb leaves, chopped garlic and olives.  Everyone was pleased with the results.
