Artwork by Jeanette McCulloch..

Hereford Library and Museum opened in 1863 with a huge celebration, including a giant fruit cake, which each child was given a piece of. The building was designed by Mr Kemson, who contracted the Clarke Brothers to adorn the building with extraordinary carvings which represented animals from all over the world. Including a kangaroo, monkey, penguin, wild cat, tapir, armadillo and dozens of other creatures. Jeanette is working on a project about the building and here is a painting based on the carvings.
