Residents Newsletter 30th of September 2021

Those Present:

Residents: Pat, Muriel, Tom, Julian, Dorothy L, Chris L, Edna, Jean, Della, Sonia, Lydia, Derek.

Staff: Gen, Harriet

Gen opened the meeting by welcoming everybody in the Residents Meeting.

Gen thanked everyone for taking part in the Dementia walk and said that we raised £585!

Covid vaccinations and updates

Gen explained to all that come the 11th of November, nobody will be allowed to come into the building without proof of double vaccination that’s including all health professional. Gen reassured that all staff have both vaccines and continue with tests 3 times a week. She explained how she can’t employ anyone without the vaccine. She explained that any visitors will still need to do an LFT test on arrival or show one they have done at home, and how they will still need to wear a mask and wash hands, temperature check on arrival.

Knitters group

This is going very well; there are lovely photos on Facebook and our Forbury Times blog. Special thanks to Mary, Rasa, Edna, Dorothy L, Chloe, Sara, Barbara, Gen!!! We are trying to knit some blankets and raise money for our Residents fund!

Activities

Gen explained how Julie is on long term sick and we are not sure when she is due to come back, when we know more, we will let everyone know. Harriet will take over activities so there is still activities going on within the home.

Harriet explained how she would get activity rotas out to everyone. If anyone has any ideas to come and speak with Harriet. We have Pamper morning every Monday in the conservatory you can have your nails cut and painted, foot spa’s, facial hair removed. Massages. Harriet also said if anyone would like to go out for a walk (weather permitted) just to let her know, or even 1:1 walks around the house. Monday afternoons will be Bingo!

Julian said how he enjoys doing the cooking activities on Tuesday and quizzes.

Halloween party

We are planning a party at the end of October for Halloween. We are waiting for entertainers to confirm. Ideas are welcome!

Food

Gen asked how the food is for lunches etc.. Residents were happy with seating arrangements and decorations in the home, it feels homely.

Muriel said she enjoys all meals here, the kitchen do her a salad in the evenings. Meals are served in hot plates, which is the most important.

Miriam said how she wasn’t keen on the fish on a Friday.
